MySmartBlinds

Make connected blinds simple to control.

MySmartBlinds motorizes window blinds. At Hall Labs and Tesseract I helped take the Android app from prototype to release.

The problem

A person installs smart blinds and then needs to pair them, group them by room, and set a schedule.

Hall Labs ran several smart-home and energy products at once. Their mobile teams needed shared code, not a fresh start each time.

Pair, choose a room, and move the blinds

Pairing starts with the physical remote. Then the person picks a room and moves its blinds with one slider. The room screen is at the top of this page.

A schedule repeats positions by time and weekday. An energy setting adds a preferred position.

Share the architecture

I built shared libraries and tools for the iOS and Android teams across several smart-home and energy products.

New features reused the same patterns, so teams could move faster as the business changed.

What I built

  • Android app from prototype to release
  • Device pairing, room control, and schedules
  • Shared libraries and tooling for mobile teams

Result

  • The Android app shipped to Google Play.
  • The shared architecture supported several Hall Labs products.

These are current Google Play images and may include later work. I did not build the iOS app.

I take contract work on mobile apps, Phoenix systems, and connected devices.
