HaulGauge
Turn truck data into a clear weight.
HaulGauge connects to a truck's OBD-II port and estimates towing and payload weight. In 2018 I built the Android app from end to end.
The problem
Drivers want to know a load before they tow it. The HaulGauge device reads the truck over OBD-II and sends data to the phone over Bluetooth.
The app must turn that data into one clear number. Requirements changed often, and the client had a fixed date.
Choose a measurement
The home screen offers each measurement: weigh, tongue weight, payload, pin weight, and weight distribution.
Calibrate, then measure
Calibration comes first. The app tells the driver to find a level road and accelerate gently.
The gauge at the top of this page shows the result. A driver can read it at a glance. Weight distribution shows each load bar on its own scale.
