CareSnap
Keep the visit moving when service stops.
CareSnap helps home-care agencies track caregiver visits. I led the native iOS caregiver app through its 2021 launch and kept building it into 2024.
The problem
Caregivers visit clients at home. Agencies must confirm the time and place of each visit. This is electronic visit verification, or EVV.
Many homes have weak signal, and care records are private. The app must keep working and keep the data safe.
Clock in and record the visit
Caregivers see their visits and clock in and out. The app records time and location for EVV.
I built clock-in and clock-out, service locations, location tracking, COVID screening, and notifications.
Keep working without service
The visit saves on the device first. I added encryption for the data stored on the phone.
I moved Core Data work to background contexts. Saves and sync do not block the screen. Pending changes go to the server when service returns.
- Record the visit Time and location for EVV.
- Save on the device Encrypted local records in Core Data.
- Keep pending work Changes wait while there is no service.
- Synchronize The app sends changes when service returns.
What I built
- Native iOS caregiver app from launch work onward
- Encrypted local storage
- Offline sync and Core Data background contexts
- Clock-in and clock-out with location for EVV
- Service locations, COVID screening, and notifications
- SwiftUI updates to existing screens
Result
- CareSnap Caregiver launched on the App Store in September 2021 and is still listed.
- Most of the iOS repository history from late 2020 to March 2024 is my work.
The App Store screen shows 2025 visits, after my documented work. The workflow diagram is a reconstruction, not an app screenshot.
